Tyrol Temptations
Holiday brief

Last year we ran a 14 day trip to Austria, which some folk said was too long and too expensive – so how’s this – an eight day trip that combines the charms of delightful Salzburg with a wonderful stay amid the valleys of the Tyrol. We will privately hire steam trains and boats to provide the ultimate rail tour of this area in Austria.
‘Must see’ Hallstadt
OUTLINE ITINERARY

Special Note: This holiday and price is based on starting and finishing Salzburg. Travel to Salzburg is inexpensive by air from the UK, but we can also arrange for travel by rail from London. Our courier for this trip will travel by rail – out on Friday, taking all day to reach Salzburg and returning over two days the following Friday. Please contact us for advice, schedules and prices for these options.
Friday – Arrive Salzburg and check into Hotel StieglBrau. An evening meal is included tonight.

Saturday – The first of six memorable days touring see us off to the mountains today for an exclusive cog rail, steam packed, trip from Wolfgang up the Schafberg Mountain. The day continues with a privately hired boat on the lake, followed by a trip to the “must see” Hallstadt. We return to Salzburg by train and your evening is free.

Sunday – North east of Salzburg is a superb standard gauge railway museum, and a great steam hauled railroad – so it’s off to Ampflwang for the morning. Narrow gauge electric follows as we transfer to beautiful Attersee to enjoy our second scenic lake trip.

Monday – We are off to the Tyrol today by coach and train. Marvellous mountain views from the train, another privately hired narrow gauge steam train from Zell am Zee and, finally, over the stunning Gerlos Pass to Zell am Ziller – what a day!

Tuesday/Wednesday – We are here to enjoy the famous Zillertalbahn, with steam of course, the Achenseebahn – Austria’s only 100% steam operated mountain railway and the classic combo
